Helen Mirren looked stunning in a LaCroix creation as she stepped up to accept the award for Lead Actress at the 79th Academy Awards Ceremony for her starring role in “The Queen”.
After her success at the Venice Film Festival earlier in the same year, the the Oscar result wasn’t in much doubt. Nor was it any surprise that she scooped the unofficial awards for grace and elegance too.
After some worry over her choice, Mirren eventually went for a gorgeous pale gold Christian Lacroix gown with a lace bodice and a skirt scattered with delicate sparkly beads.
Some celebrities just have the knack of selecting exactly the right dress for the occasion. Occasions don’t come much bigger than the Oscars for actresses submitted to huge scrutiny on the red carpet and the temptation can be to overplay the look. Celebrities who get it right usually go for understated glamour and Mirren does that superbly well.
The Lacroix dress was alluring and feminine and it was obvious that she felt just right in it – essential if you have to give an “impromptu” acceptance speech in front of the world’s millions.
Mirren’s hair and makeup looked just right too and she appears refreshingly unconcerned about wrinkles. She refused the customary offer of free botox injections before the big day and is known to prefer home made skin care tips like tea bags to soothe puffy eyes.
Whatever Helen Mirren’s anti aging secret is…it’s certainly working!
