Susan Sarandon anti aging role model

susan sarandon anti aging beauty Susan Sarandon anti aging role modelSusan Sarandon is a wonderful anti aging role model – a woman who  doesn’t let age define or limit her and who stays looking younger seemingly without trying.

With a long career in the movie business Susan Sarandon could have succumbed to the pressures of Hollywood and gone for Botox or plastic surgery like so many others.

But being the woman she is – she chose a more natural approach in keeping with her beliefs and values.

Sarandon focuses on eating properly – a diet rich in antioxidants with many fruits and vegetables as well as lean meats.  She also includes a green food supplement into her diet based on spirulina which adds even more of an antioxidant punch.

By eating a diet full of anti aging antioxidants the actress stays sexy and younger looking – even in her sixties.

A former vegetarian – Susan Sarandon admits she got bored with the meatless lifestyle. After menopause hit at around age 54, she had to cut back on her intake of carbohydrates as her metabolism changed and she found herself piling on the pounds around the middle.

“My emphasis is on being healthy … rather than what you inject or reconstruct. Beauty comes from inside — it has to do with what you take in.”

As part of her daily routine, Sarandon includes a calcium and vitamin D supplement as well as emu oil, vitamin C, and CoQ10 to boost brain power and vitality.

One thing Susan Sarandon makes sure she does is to look after her skin.  Blessed with fine, even textured skin, Sarandon makes sure she keeps it that way by getting regular non-invasive treatments.

She’s a big fan of Tracie Martyn – along with most of Hollywood – and is a regular for Tracie Martyn’s Resculpting Facials at her Manhattan salon.

It was actually Susan Sarandon who persuaded Martyn to create her own line of anti aging products so that she and other Hollywood celebrities could use them at home after salon facials. Although she regularly uses the whole product range, her particular favorites are the Tracie Martyn Enzyme Exfoliant and the Amla Purifying Cleanser

“I use the Enzyme Exfoliant because it really works. It brightens my skin and leaves it glowing”

With a strong sense of her beliefs, Sarandon’s volunteerism and political activism seems to add to her overall glow and radiance.  By taking up causes that she firmly believes in, she creates the right inner energy to allow her body to age at a much slower rate.

Susan also includes regular exercise in her life to remove any pent up stress or tension that she might be holding onto.  Even with her busy schedule and high visibility as an A-list celebrity, she tries to get on the treadmill as often as she can.

She goes to her gym regularly and has a personal trainer to put her through her paces and make the exercise times fun

Sarandon is also a big fan of Pilates which she does whenever she can.  She says that she tried yoga in the past – although a little unsuccessfully which she explains by saying she was too competitive and tried to push herself to do too much – getting hurt in the process.

With deep breathing and visualization, Susan Sarandon is also able to keep her body moving at a slower pace, which must also help her look younger. When the body is calm, it can process toxins more efficiently. The result – less collagen breakdown and younger looking skin.

Though she has been known to smoke for a movie role, Sarandon hasn’t had to battle the smoking addiction.  She knows that smoking accelerates facial aging and would never start now.

Although Sarandon does have regular microdermabrasion done to keep her skin smooth, she has not tried botox and does not plan to in the future.  As an actress she fears losing her emotional range and expressiveness on camera and as a person she doesn’t want to lose the natural warmth and responsiveness in her face.

Of course, she does admit that she is getting worried about the appearance of her neck and might be tempted to do something in the future.

Only time will tell – in the meantime she remains an anti aging role model for all of us.

I like her style! I always thought she was so attractive for her age…without that fake, phony, plasticy look that so many older actresses and celebritites sport these days (which in my opinion, looks AWFUL…pumped up lips, weird collagen injected faces, etc…)…..in contrast, Susan Sarandan just looks more…fresh,, and natural. No, she is not trying to look like a 20 year old (like most of them..that’s their MISTAKE)….she is what she is…a beautiful and healthy woman…who doesn’t happen to be 20 any more, but hey, that’s okay! I admire her healthy style and positive approach to life, as opposed to going that shallow botox plastic surgery working-out and getting too skinny route……if only all the celebrity women could be like this!

    • Kimberly – thanks for commenting – I totally agree with you – Susan Sarandon has great style and natural beauty which she doesn’t need to alter or “improve” surgically. Let’s hope she stays that way!

  2. This article is absolutely full of untruth. All of these lovely women have had facelifts. It is very easy to see if you have followed their career and photos.

Ann – neither of us knows for sure…Susan Sarandon does look and sound like a natural older beauty and my feeling is she would not be too bothered about owning up to a facelift or other plastic surgery.
